چکیده

Abstract. Declining soil-saturated hydraulic conductivity (Ks) as a result of saline and sodic irrigation water is major cause soil degradation. While it understood that the mechanisms lead to degradation can irreversible changes in Ks, existing models do not account for hysteresis between rehabilitation processes. We develop first model effect on Ks explicitly includes hysteresis. As such, idea soil's history determines its future lies at center this model. By means “weight” function, accounts soil-specific differences, such clay content. The weight function also form curves, which are restricted single shape, some concept used reversibility index, allows quantitative comparison different soils their susceptibility discuss experimental setup required find show how degree reversible given soil. demonstrate feasibility procedure by presenting results showcasing presence using these calculate function. Computer Erosion Modeling Considering Soil Hydraulic Conductivity

Improved computer models of erosion have been developed, considering soil hydraulic conductivity. The models deal with erosion of levees, dams and embankments due to overtopping. The simulations trace the formation of rills and gullies, beginning with initial overtopping and continuing to final breaching. Physical models performed at 1-g and high g using a geotechnical centrifuge have been used...

Hysteresis: Phenomenon and Modeling in Soil- Water Relationship

Hysteresis has been widely recognized in the soil water relationship. In this paper, a detailed review of hysteresis was performed in relation to its models. So far, different models have been suggested to describe hysteresis in the water retention curve (WRC) that could be categorized into two main groups: conceptual and empirical models. The models in the first group are based on the domain t...

The Effect of Soil Salinity and Sodicity on Soil Erodibility, Sediment Transport and Downstream Water Quality

There is an abundance of literature on many aspects of soil salinity and sodicity, and the impact of increased salt and sodium on properties, behaviour, management and productivity of soils. However the impact of sodicity on erosion and soil erodibility and sediment transport has received less attention. The aim of this study was to investigate the effects of changing soil salinity and sodicity...
